Los Cristianos Beginner Scuba Diving at Stingray Bay

Choose this experience if you want a straightforward first scuba dive without a boat trip or multi-activity package. Training happens before you enter the water, and the instructor stays close throughout the dive. The choice between 20 and 40 minutes underwater also lets you decide whether you want a short taster or more time to explore the volcanic reef.

Best for complete beginners, travellers staying in Los Cristianos or Playa de las Américas, and families with children old enough for the operator’s current minimum age of 8. It can also suit nervous first-timers because the training and entry are gradual. Current guiding is offered in English and Spanish.

Choose a boat-based beginner dive from Puerto Colón if entering from a boat is part of the experience you want, or a kayak-and-scuba package if you prefer several activities in one booking. This activity is not listed as wheelchair accessible. Anyone with a medical condition relevant to diving should complete the health questionnaire honestly and obtain medical clearance when required.

The instructor spends around 30 minutes explaining the equipment, breathing and basic safety procedures while preparing you for the water. All required scuba equipment is included.

You then enter the sea from shore at Stingray Bay. Depending on the option selected, the underwater portion lasts about 20 or 40 minutes. The operator currently describes beginner dives as gradually descending from shallow water to a maximum of roughly 6–8 metres.

The volcanic reef can attract rays, fish and other Atlantic marine life, but sightings vary naturally. After the dive you return to the centre; transport is not included.
